2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Quick Breakdown
The PGA Tour is in full swing now as it moves to gorgeous Pacific Pebble Beach in Southern California. 2019 defending champion Phil Mickelson will look to lead another impressive field at the 2020 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The course is one of the more scenic on the tour, as it plays feet from the ocean and provides incredible scenery for the fans. Mickelson has looked a little rusty to start the season, but it’s hard to ignore him at +2200 odds to win, as he’s finished first five times here in his career.
The tournament will be played on a three-course rotation: Monterey Peninsula, Spyglass Hill, and Pebble Beach. All golfers will play one round at each of the three courses and then the top-60 and ties will get to play on Sunday at Pebble Beach for a second time. Pebble Beach has the smallest greens on tour, not to mention they are also surrounded by a total of 118 bunkers. Golfers with strong approach games are going to have the advantage, so make sure to get your fair share of exposure to players who excel in that area. Monterey Peninsula is the course that should give the pros the lowest scores this weekend, while Spyglass will play the toughest of the three. The golfers in the most advantageous spots will be the ones who start one of their first two rounds on Monterey Peninsula or Pebble Beach this week.
2009 winner and former number one player in the world Dustin Johnson will be making his first appearance since the Sentry Tournament of Champions (January 5th, 2020). Johnson is the overall favorite of the weekend, getting +650 odds currently. Other popular picks that could have a real shot of winning this weekend include Paul Casey (+2000), Brandt Snedeker (+2200) and Jason Day (+1800) (all have fantastic course history at Pebble Beach).
