New year means the first major of the 2025 tennis season as the Australian Open kicks off this month. While there may not be the likes of Federer or Nadal, the men’s side is still stacked with Sinner, Alcarez and Djokovic. Let’s dive in and see what the odds say, and can we see an upset in Melbourne.
Jannik Sinner +175
There’s no question Jannik Sinner should be the favorite to win the Aussie Open. He’s been the best player on tour for the last year and defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinal of this tournament last year, before capturing the title.
Carlos Alcaraz +240
While Carlos Alcaraz has been considered the next big thing in tennis, this is the only major he has yet to win. The furthest he’s reached is last year’s quarterfinal. He did win two grand slam titles last season, the French Open and Wimbledon, but flamed out in the 2nd round at the US Open.
Novak Djokovic +275
Novak Djokovic is chasing his 11th Australian Open title and comes out of a season where he didn’t win a major for the first time since 2017. You know he’s motivated to start the season off on the right foot, and who knows how many more tournaments he has left. But these are short odds for an aging champion. Take a chance on the veteran, or turn to the young guns? A betting conundrum to stay the least.

He’s 0-35 in majors but you have to figure Alexander Zverev is due. He made the semi’s last year in Melbourne, and has reached the final four here twice over his career. He has the hard-court skillset, and adds value to his price. If he gets a favorable draw, he could reach the last four once again.
Taylor Fritz +3300
Last season, he made his first final in the US Open and reached the quarters at Wimbledon and the Australian Open. Can he continue his ascension in 2025? He’s one of the better younger stars on tour and could use the momentum from Flushing Meadows. And at this price, the value is certainly there.
