Kambi Expands Michigan Sports Betting Presence Via Deal With Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises

  • Stockholm listed gaming technology provider Kambi has announced a sports betting partnership with Michigan based Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises.
  • Saginaw Chippewa has tapped Kambi to power retail and mobile sports betting for their two casinos–the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel and the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort.
  • Kambi also powers sports betting for Michigan’s Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians at their Four Winds gaming properties.

Just a few days after announcing that they’ve expanded their sports betting market reach in Arizona, gaming technology provider Kambi is doing the same thing in Michigan. Kambi will power another major tribal operator in Michigan with both retail and mobile sports betting technology as they partner with Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises. The gaming arm of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe operates two casinos in Michigan–the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort in Mount Pleasant and the Saganing Eagles Landig Casino & Hotel in Standish.

Kambi will power retail sports betting at both properties as well as a mobile/online wagering platform. Earlier this year, Kambi announced an agreement with another Michigan tribal operator– the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians–to provide retail and online/mobile sports betting technology at Four Winds gaming properties. The tribe operates Four Winds Casinos in South Bend, Hartford, New Buffalo and Dowagiac. Earlier this week, Kambi announced a deal with Arizona’s Desert Diamond Casinos–an enterprise of the Tohono O’odham Nation–for retail sportsbooks at three properties along with online/mobile statewide. Kambi already has a significant presence in the newly launched Arizona sports betting market–they power mobile/online betting for Penn National Gaming, Kindred Group’s Unibet and Churchill Downs’ TwinSpires, as well as a retail sportsbook for Churchill Downs’ TwinSpires in partnership with the Tonto Apache Tribe’s Mazatzal Casino.

Kambi CEO Kristian Nylén is always happy to expand her company’s market presence in a jurisdiction:

“A key part of Kambi’s strategy has been to partner with market leaders and local heroes, and Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises certainly fulfils that criteria. Through its popular Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel properties, Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises has established a formidable brand and a large customer database in Michigan.

“At Kambi, we know what it takes to create a leading sportsbook product and we look forward to helping Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises deliver exciting sports betting experiences to its patrons.”

Melinda Coffin, CEO, Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises, is confident that Kambi will deliver a superior sports betting experience for customers:

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Kambi Group. Our loyal guests and Soaring Eagle team have been anxiously looking forward to sports betting at our casinos. We look forward to working with Kambi Group and providing a great experience for our guests.”

The press release didn’t mention any type of online casino gaming to be offered by the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe. Kambi had previously partnered with PALA Interactive for iGaming services offered by the Four Winds Casinos. PALA also provides ‘for fun’ social casino gaming for Four Winds.

Michigan now has 14 online sports betting platforms available to players in the state. The majority of gaming in the state is conducted at 24 tribal properties offering Class III gaming throughout the state along with three commercial casinos in the Detroit area.
