BetParx Opens Retail Sportsbook In Maryland

Parx Interactive has announced that they’ll be the operator for the new sportsbook at the Greene Turtle Restaurant in Towson, Maryland.
BetParx becomes the 13th retail sportsbook in the state.
As is the case in most states, Maryland’s retail handle is a small fraction of the overall sports betting handle.

The more sportsbooks the better–retail and otherwise. Earlier this week, Parx Interactive opened a new retail location at the Greene Turtle Restaurant in Towson, Maryland. The BetParx location is the company’s second in partnership with ITA Group Holdings owned Greene Turtle with the other retail book located at the facility in Baltimore.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission has issued its latest sports wagering facility license to Canton Gaming and its operator partner Parx Interactive.

Following the license approval, a new retail sportsbook has opened at the Greene Turtle restaurant in Towson, becoming the 13^th retail wagering location to launch in the state.

Last week, Canton Gaming and Parx successfully completed controlled demonstrations at the Greene Turtle location.

Customers participated in live wagering as Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff ensured that the sportsbook complied with all required procedures and that its systems functioned properly.

Maryland’s existing licensed sportsbooks collected total wagers of $263.7 million in August, and took the state’s total bets since the start of the year above $2.5 billion.

The state’s 12 mobile sports betting operators brought in $250.4 million in August, while the 12 retail sportsbooks accounted for the remaining $13.4 million.

Casino & Hotel in Hanover (FanDuel), Long Shot’s in Frederick (BetFred), FedEx Field in Landover (Fanatics Sportsbook), MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill (BetMGM), Ocean Downs Casino and Racetrack in Berlin (still listed as TwinSpires), Riverboat on the Potomac in Charles County (was PointsBet, not sure if they’ve transitioned to Fanatics Sportsbook yet), Sports & Social in North Bethesda (FanDuel).
