  • PointsBet Canada has announced a partnership deal with another curling organization.
  • This time, it’s the newly formed Team Bottcher consisting of Ben Hebert, Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant and Brendan Bottcher.
  • PointsBet Canadian subsidiary has launched their wagering platform in Ontario and has an office based in Toronto.

After finding considerable success in the nascent US sports betting market, PointsBet has headed ‘north of the border’ to Canada. They’ve launched their platform in Ontario and have an office in Toronto. They’ve also done plenty of Canadian-centric partnerships with entities such as Alpine Canada, Curling Canada, the CFL Ottawa REDBLACKS and Toronto pro sports giant Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.

They’ve recently announced another Canadian sports sponsorship as they highlight their support for Olympic curling. They’ve signed on as a sponsor of Team Bottcher, a newly formed team consisting of Ben Hebert, Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant, and Brendan Bottcher. The team is preparing for the upcoming Olympic games in 2023 and 2026.

Here’s some more details about the deal from the PointsBet Canada press release:

PointsBet Canada will once again be a premier supporter for curling in Canada this upcoming Olympic quadrennial hitting the ice with the newly formed Team Bottcher. The rink of Ben Hebert, Marc Kennedy, Brett Gallant, and Brendan Bottcher brings together past world, national and Olympic champions together for the 2023-2026 Olympic run.

As one of the fastest growing operators in North America, PointsBet Canada has made a sincere commitment to the Canadian market with a team headquartered in Toronto and partnerships deeply rooted in Canadian sport. PointsBet prides itself on offering unmatched speed and ease of use across every customer touchpoint, as well as the deepest slate of pre-game and in-play betting options in the world, thanks to owning and controlling its technology.

Team Bottcher lead Brendan Bottcher is excited to have PointsBet aboard:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with PointsBet Canada. Having a world-class operator like PointsBet Canada on our team will not only help us in our pursuit of championships, but also help us connect in innovative ways with our nation’s curling fans.”

Teammate Ben Hebert added:

“From day one, PointsBet Canada has been a supporter of curling in Canada. From their partnership with Curling Canada, the upcoming PointsBet Invitational, or sponsorship of individual teams, no sportsbook has shown a commitment to our sport like PointsBet Canada.”

Nic Sulsky, Chief Commercial Officer at PointsBet Canada, explained the appeal of the partnership with Team Bottcher:

“As the two-time winner of EGR North America’s Best Sports Betting Operator, PointsBet Canada prides itself on excellence. This is why it was a no-brainer to partner with players who have not only won before on the national stage, but also internationally at the World Championships and Olympics.”

Scott Vanderwel, CEO of PointsBet Canada, played up his company’s Canadian operations:

“As one of the few locally based Canadian companies, we know how important it is for our industry to not only engage fans, but grow grassroot participants. We are excited about our long-term partnership with Curling Canada and Team Bottcher as it will help us to continue our pursuit of growing the game of curling.”

Despite the fact that Ontario is now among the best sports betting jurisdictions in the world, the other provinces in Canada haven’t moved much beyond their lottery run monopolies. Hopefully, that will change in the coming year.
