The National Hockey League season is set to begin on October 12, 2021 with two games–the Pittsburgh Penguins head to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning while the Seattle Kraken make their debut at T-Mobile Arena against the Vegas Golden Knights. The 2020-2021 season ended on July 7 as the Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup. Sportsbooks quickly posted NHL futures betting odds and right at the top were three teams: the Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche.
With just two weeks before the start of the season very little has changed in the NHL Stanley Cup futures betting markets. The same three teams are at the top of the betting board at virtually every sportsbook on the planet–it’s Vegas, Tampa, Colorado and everyone else. At most sportsbooks, every other team in the league is priced at +1100 or higher. There are a couple of sportsbooks (DraftKings, Betway Colorado) that have the Toronto Maple Leafs priced as a +900 fourth choice but they are decidedly the exception.
