  • BetMGM has launched a Borgata Casino app in Pennsylvania
  • It joins BetMGM Casino which launched in December 2020.
  • BetMGM is hoping to leverage the Borgata Casino brand outside of New Jersey.

BetMGM has done an excellent job leveraging their iconic ‘brick & mortar’ casino brand into the digital era. They’ve quickly become a major player in the nascent US sports betting marketplace and have been particularly creative at finding ways to expand their brand identity nationwide. BetMGM has been very active in forming promotional partnerships with celebrities like Jamie Foxx, sports organizations such as the PGA Tour, sports teams with NASCAR’s Richard Childress Racing a recent addition and even businesses outside of the sports betting nexus such as Topgolf.

BetMGM is live with sports betting in Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan Nevada, New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. They also offer casino gaming in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The company has just announced that they’ve expanded their presence in the fast growing Pennsylvania gaming market by launching a second online casino. Yesterday, BetMGM launched the Borgata Casino app in the Keystone State via a market access partnership with Rivers Casino Philadelphia. The Borgata app joins the company’s BetMGM Casino app which launched in early December 2020.

The launch of Borgata Casino online in Pennsylvania is significant for another reason–it is the first expansion of the brand beyond New Jersey. BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt emphasized this theme in this quote from the press release announcing the launch:

“There are few casino brands as well-respected as Borgata, evident by the success we’ve seen with the Borgata Casino app in New Jersey. Pennsylvania marks an important milestone for us as we introduce the Borgata Casino brand to the first state outside of New Jersey. We’re confident that players in Pennsylvania will enjoy the digital betting experience of Atlantic City’s premier casino.”

Here’s some of the particulars about the Borgata Casino app:

The Borgata Casino app features a wide variety of games including more than 150 slots and table games, such as Premium Blackjack Pro and MGM Grand Millions. Its progressive jackpot, linked to slot offerings and available to players in Pennsylvania, starts at $300,000. Upon signup, players will receive a 100% welcome deposit match, up to $1,000, and $20 in free play.

BetMGM’s integration with MGM Resorts’ M life Rewards program allows Borgata Casino customers in Pennsylvania to redeem their gameplay for world-class accommodations at iconic MGM Resorts properties nationwide, such as Bellagio and MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Borgata in New Jersey, and MGM National Harbor in Maryland.

BetMGM is a partnership between MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) and British gaming technology firm Entain Holdings (LSE:ENT). It is the exclusive sports betting division of MGM both online and retail.  BetMGM is also the headline brand for online casino gaming along side sister brands Borgata Online (New Jersey), Party Casino and Party Poker. Entain has five offices worldwide with a main HQ in London. MGM Resorts is based in Las Vegas while the BetMGM offices are in Jersey City, New Jersey.

At the time of publication, Ross Everett has a long position in MGM.
